BANQUET D'OR

A croissant is judged against French ones. Premium has to be visible.

Case: Banquet d'Or

Client: Banquet d'Or / Vandemoortele
Services: Photography, Videography, Culinary Identity, Global Style Guidelines

The problem

Banquet d'Or is the brand Vandemoortele takes abroad. Premium pastry, sold into markets where the name is still new.

Premium is only a claim until the photography backs it up. With a croissant the benchmark is not premium in general, it is French. People know what a good croissant looks like before they read a word about the brand.

Shot the ordinary way, a croissant is just a croissant. It sits on the page looking like any other bake-off product, and the price stops making sense.

The brand also had to look the same everywhere it landed, whoever was shooting it.

What we did

We built a culinary identity for the brand and wrote it down as global style guidelines.

The guidelines cover how the pastry is baked for camera, how far the lamination is opened, how much crumb is allowed in frame, the light, the surfaces and the crop. Specific enough that a shoot in another country lands in the same place.

The reference throughout is a French croissant, not a product shot. Colour, blister, flake and the way it tears when you open it.

Photography and video both come off that identity.

The result

One premium look, applied everywhere the brand goes.

Vandemoortele's international flagship, conquering one croissant at a time.
