ARDO
Frozen product starts melting the moment it leaves the freezer.
Case: Ardo
Client: Ardo
Services: Photography, inspiration videography, Recipe Content, Food Fair Content
The problem
Ardo sells frozen fruit and vegetables. The product only looks like itself while it is still frozen.
Out of the freezer it has minutes. Ice crystals soften and the surface goes wet. Under studio lights it happens faster than that. Every slow set-up costs a product, and the next one comes out of the freezer to start the clock again.
Frozen vegetables also have a perception problem. On their own they read as an ingredient nobody is excited about.
What we did
We build the shot before the product arrives. Lighting, props, camera and focus are locked while the product is still in the freezer, so it is only on set for as long as it takes to shoot.
Recipe inspiration is developed with chef Peter De Wandele. The vegetables reach the camera as a finished dish, not as a bag of ingredients.
We also produce the inspiration videos Ardo takes to food fairs across Europe.
The result
Hundreds of product images, plus recipe content and fair films built out of the same work.
The frozen product still looks frozen. That is the difficult part, and it is the whole point.
